ACLU Mourns Passing of Justice Marshall;
`Exemplified Values of Liberty'
For IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 25, 1993
NEW YORK -- The American Civil Liberties Union mourns the passing of
Thurgood Marshall, for decades our valued colleague in the fight for
equal justice and, since 1967, a champion of the Bill of Rights on the
Supreme Court. Justice Marshall exemplified the values of liberty upon
which this country was founded as much as anyone who ever sat on the
Supreme Court, and he set a standard that will encourage all those who
struggle for freedom and equality for as long as such struggles are
necessary.
