    WHY AMERICAN ATHEISTS IS SAYING "JOHN PAUL, GO HOME"

FREEDOM OF CHOICE FOR WOMEN! The Roman Catholic church is one
of the nation's largest and most active groups trying to ban
abortion and deny women control over their own bodies! Its
emphasis on the _quantity_ of life ("more souls for Jesus!")
leads to overpopulation and ultimately degrades the value of
human existence.

RIGHTS FOR GAY MEN AND WOMEN! "Mother Church" condemns
homosexuality, terming it a "sin," thus perpetuating bigotry
and intolerance against millions of Americans. Biblical
doctrine should _not_ be a criterion for civil rights and
personal freedom!

FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION! The Roman Catholic church is  a
leading proponent of government censorship of books,
magazines, videos, plays, movies, and other forms of
communication.

SEPARATION OF GOVERNMENT AND RELIGION! By promoting aid to
religious schools, prayers in the classroom, and other
violations of the First Amendment, the Roman Catholic church
seeks to institutionalize religion into our culture through
government fiat!


     The Roman Catholic church is the United State's single
biggest corporation. Its _known_ financial assets run into
billions of dollars. And more wealth remains concealed behind
a maze of shell companies. Yet this is all tax exempt!
Americans subsidize organized religion to the tune of tens of
billions of dollars per year. Yet the churches, including the
Roman Catholic church, insist on a privileged, tax-exempt
status.


     The pope of Rome has no business trying to dictate
politics, finance, and life-style behavior to the American
people. Catholic brainwashing has corrupted young people
through religious indoctrination, sexual repression,
ritualized absurdities, and foolish beliefs.


     The American people should not be subsidizing a
religious spectacle _ which is what the pope's visit to
America is _ through the use of our tax monies. Nor should
the Vatican enjoy the dual status as both an organized
religion and a nation-state, complete with official
diplomatic recognition by our government.
