Subject: Raoul bring Iraq to Geology class.


     Thanks for the anecdote regarding St. Helens. I was "allowed"
     to accompany the first group of scientists (at the time, I was
     an undergrad and pack mule) to study the St. Helen's area after
     the big boom (one of our profs was an eminent vulcanologist).
     Eerie, to say the least.

     I had the unique "pleasure" of being chosen to dive in the
     remains of Spirit Lake (I was the only one with a geological
     background, PADI [I did geophysical ice dives for the Great
     Lakes Research Facility] and stupid enough to attempt the dives).
     Numerous of the photos that the Cretinists show gargling about
     "rapid coal formation" and "St. Helen's canyon cutting" are
     photos that were snapped by yours truly.

     And they wonder why sometimes I get a bit rankled...
