ICR Watch - April Fools Edition.
Well the April 94 edition of the ICR's _Acts & Facts_ just
arrived, and true to the date of its publication, its nature
is more foolish that truth.
"ICR Scientist in Bolivia"
This lead article about Gish's doings takes a full 2 pages and
is nothing but a list of dates and numbers of people. I count 7
radio, tv and newspaper appearances; 16 meetings, talks,
presentations, lectures, and seminars to a total of 3500
businessmen, doctors, professionals, students, etc. Though he
doesn't say so, I assume all those Bolivian "businessmen" were
most interested in seeing if Gish's creationist genetic science
could be used to create better dope and if his "evolution is
religion" could be modified to make dope dealing a religion too
and avoid government intervention.
"ICR Creation Museum: Making an Impact"
In this article, the ICR is happy to report that although
several heathen organizations have exposed their exhibits as
"misleading", the gullible who see such exposes are drawn to
then like flies to you-know-what anyway. Their special exhibit
"Creation, Evolution, Abortion" just ended. It "examined how
evolutionary thinking has been used to dehumanize the unborn".
The next exhibit is "Creation, Evolution, and Enviromentalism"
from April 15 to June 30. It promises the inside scoop on
"global warming, ozone depletion, and animal rights". (This
ought to be good, one of their recent radio shows was using the
biblical nature of man's special creation to deny the "human
rights" of freedom from imprisonment and medical experimentation
to apes.) This exhibit will "show how an evolutionary-based
environmental 'craze' is being used to promote paganism and
usher in the so-called 'New Age'." You can request their free
museum fact pack "Environmentalism, Education, and the New Age".
Radio Log "Science, Scripture, & Salvation"
Apr 2 Henry Morris will claim that the resurrection of Jesus is
the "best-proved event of ancient history".
Apr 9 and 16 Jim Stambaugh will claim there was no death before
the sin of Adam and Eve.
Apr 23 Kent Hovind and others will speculate about dinosaurs.
Apr 30 Larry Vardiman and others will demonize Earth Day.
_Back to Genesis_ # 64, "The Hyper-Environmentalists" by
William A. Hoesch, MS in geology.
Blames environmental problems on man's turning away from god and
tries to avoid the damage done by christian theology. He says
that theology that "says man has a special dignity, or is in
some way 'above' the animals, is viewed today by many
environmentalists and 'New Age' educators as utterly repugnant,
and as one of the chief causes for the decay in our
environment." He says many of the newly elected fundamentalists
"stealth" school board members are shocked to find that
evolution is not just "an 'issue', but at the very core of the
humanist agenda that has been accelerating for most of this
century." He claims this "agenda" requires the environment be
taken care of so men can get along with each other and nature.
He then points to the French Revolution and Soviet Union
collapse as proof that "man cannot be perfected by furnishing
the 'proper' teaching environment, for man's fundamental flaw is
an internal one." which he previously identified as Sin and that
"Getting right with God is crucial to a healthy view of the
environment...". After implying that global warming and ozone
depletion are anything but scientifically valid "crisis" he
implies that they are just tools to forge a new global
spirituality and warns readers not be "taken in by this
emerging new environmental religion." VP Gore is picked on
because he "believes in a 'wisdom to be distilled from all
faiths'"... and "his compassion and sincerity are not to be
confused with a true Biblical faith." He then goes biblical
claiming that because man's nature is "rebellion against his
Creator (Romans 8:7), then we should not be surprised to see a
faith that offers (1) a crusade-like cause to its adherents;
(2) a missionary hope for 'salvation,' and (3) a suppression of
the truth that God has created. It is inevitable that this new
belief will not tolerate Christians who hold to a creationist
worldview,...". He ends by claiming the only hope for Earth is
for man to "be reconciled, through the work of Christ, to his
Creator."
"Do Peppered Moths Prove Evolution?" by John D. Morris, PhD
The last paragraph says it all: "But, at any rate, the peppered
moth demonstrate what creationists have been saying all along.
Variation within a specific created type occurs all the time.
Natural selection can select the variant best suited for an
environment, but natural selection doesn't create anything new.
Why, then, do evolutionists use this as Exhibit No. 1? This,
obviously, must be the best evidence they have got."
_Impact_ #250 "When is a Whale a Whale?" by Dr. Duane T. Gish
After using 1/4 of his space quoting 25 year old science about
the lack of whale ancestors, Gish finally addresses the January
94 _Science_ article discussing _Ambulocetus natans_. In
typical Gish fashion he says. "When some of the ICR staff looked
at the picture... they laughed...associating the word 'whale'
with a creature with large and powerful front and hind legs
does seem a bit ludicrous to skeptics." In other words, after
requesting fossil evidence that whales evolved from land
walking animals, upon seeing same, they laugh, how can that be
a whales ancestor, it's got LEGS? Gish then does the standard
geological column shuffle. How can this be ancestor to
_Pakicetus inachus_ since it was found 400 feet higher. He
concludes that they are probably wrong since they were wrong
about _Ramapitecus_, Pithdown Man, Nebraska Man, and
Neanderthal (a full human, suffering from arthritis and
rickets).
Lest we forget the ICR's purpose in life, here it is in their
own words from the undated ICR pamphlet _Introducing ICR, A worldwide
outreach to families and nations_.
Why ICR?
Because American society - especially our educational system -
is dominated by evolutionary humanism.
Because the harmful consequences of evolutionary thinking
on families and society (abortion, promiscuity, drug abuse,
homosexuality, and many others) are evident all around us.
Because this rebellion against God and His laws stems from
unbelieving scientists and educators undermining the foundational
truth of creation.
We believe God has raised up ICR to spearhead Biblical
Christianity's defense against the godless dogma of evolutionary
humanism. Only by showing the scientific bankruptcy of evolution,
while exalting Christ and the Bible, will Christians be successful
in 'the pulling down of strongholds; casting down imaginations,
and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge
of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience
of Christ' (2 Corinthians 10:4,5).
