dG = dH - TdS (2nd Law of Thermodynamics)
This mathematical relationship between Gibbs free energy (G), enthalpy (H)
and entropy (S) is invariably true for any "closed system" - i.e. one
which does not exchange energy with it's surroundings. This statement of
the second law is complete and correct. _There_ _is_ _no_ _more_!
The second law does not have anything to do with information.
Entropy (in the thermodynamic sense) does not have anything to do
with information.
Anyone who says otherwise is mistaken. (I'm being polite here...)
I shall reiterate: (in words, for those who aren't used to algebra)
"For any spontaneous change in a closed system, the change in
[Gibbs] free energy equals the change in enthalpy minus the change
in entropy times the temperature."
I'd be intrigued to see anyone prove from this mathematical statement
that evolution (or for that matter abiogenesis) could not have occurred.
I'd be particularly intrigued to hear them explain why the former has
nonetheless been seen to occur.
