: I bit the bait and got into an argument with a creationist.

: 1.  The Lie:  Evolution, by Ken Ham.

This one's a classic.  The cover is a picture of a serpent's head
hovering over an apple.  The word "evolution" in the title is written
on the apple.  Subtle, huh?

The entire book is based on the argument, "evolution leads to evil
things, so it must be wrong."  It is rife with cartoons depicting all
the evil things caused by evolution, e.g. a tree whose trunk is
labelled "evolution," with rotten fruits dropping from it onto the
earth, and words like "wrath," "hatred," "pornography," "lawlessness,"
"witchcraft," "abortion," "fornication," "envying," "adultery,"
"murder," "strife," "drunkenness," "homosexuality," and "uncleanness"
written among the leaves.  Another of my favorites is a cartoon meant
to depict the "fact" that evolution denies morality a foundation:  a
father and a son ar arguing.  The son says, "Listen, dad, give me one
good reason why I can't marry Bob!"  The father responds, "Because...
it's not right, it goes against my grain, *it's not normal*, it's
wrong, it's..."  The son is holding a newspaper on which the front
page headline is "Homosexuality on rampage!  AIDS rampant!!!"

Just ask your correspondent to give one example of a scientific
argument against evolution from this book.  He will fail.
