MOUNDSVILLE, W.Va. (UPI) _ The security chief at the Hare Krishna
commune in Marshall County found the charred remains of what New
Vrindaban officials claim are those of a devotee.
The body had been gnawed by dogs.
Officials from the Marshall County sheriff's office were on the
scene Wednesday. Sheriff Donald Bordenkircher said in a prepared
statement the body was found by Krishna security chief Robert Hamilton
about 2 p.m. Tuesday.
Hamilton told police the body was that of Todd Schenker, a devotee
in his 40s. The body was sent to the state examiner's office in South
Charleston.
Bordenkircher _ in a prepared statement _ said no positive
identification has been made, and that he has assigned two detectives to
the case.
The body was found in the yard of the Schenker home, located on Big
Wheeling Creek Road at the foot of Turkey Dam.
"The case is extremely interesting and suspicious and as in such
matters as this death there are significant amounts of mystery,"
Bordenkircher said in the statement. "The job now is to slowly unravel
the mystery and find the truth."
