   CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (UPI) _ The former treasurer of the Hare Krishna
community at New Vrindaban has entered a guilty plea in U.S. District
Court in Clarksburg to a charge of mailfraud.
   Howard Fawley, 38, of Wheeling entered his plea Monday, said U.S.
Attorney William Kolibash.
   The plea was given before Judge William Kidd on a charge stemming
from a $40,000 insurance claim. The claim was filed to recover a fire
loss on a rental apartment building owned by the Krishna community near
Moundsville.
   Kolibash said Fawley admitted he processed the claim on behalf of
the community with Inland Mutual Ins. Co. of Huntington, even though he
knew the rental apartment building was torched by devotee Thomas
Drescher.
   Drescher, who is serving a life sentence for murder at the West
Virginia Penitentiary, was convicted of arson in the incident in
December 1987.
   Kidd ordered a presentence report prepared and told Fawley to
appear for sentencing on Oct. 5. Fawley faces 5 years in prison and a
fine of $250,000 in the plea, Kolibash said.
   Fawley was free on a $5,000 personal bond.
