ГINNSBRUCK, AUSTRIA (FEB. 21) DPA - Mummified ''Iceman'', theГ
Гbody of an ancient hunter found in a glacier in the Alps Г
Гlast September, is probably some 5,300 years old - even Г
Гolder than originally assumed, scientists at the University Г
Гof Innsbruck said Friday. Г
Г Г
ГThe Iceman probably lived during the late Stone Age, Г
Гaccording to tests conducted at an archaeological institute Г
Гat Oxford University and institutes in Innsbruck and Zurich.Г
Г Г
ГAnalyses of tissue and bone samples had shown that the body Г
Гwas between 5,292 and 5,342 years old, the scientists said. Г
Г Г
ГThe body was originally estimated to be between 4,600 and Г
Г4,850 years old. Г
Г Г
ГSamples were taken from lacerations on the left thigh Г
Гsustained when the body was removed from the Similaun Г
ГGlacier near the Italian border with Austria, Werner PlatzerГ
Гfrom Innsbruck University's Anatomical Institute said. Г
Г Г
ГSome 80 different groups of scientists are currently Г
Гexamining the body. The Iceman's skin is to be examined nextГ
Гand a three-dimensional drawing of his body made. Г
Г Г
ГComputer tomography will be used to determine the location Г
Гof various organs before further samples can be taken, Г
ГPlatzer said. Г
Г Г
