³ARCHAEOLOGISTS MAKE FINDS AT ANCIENT SITE NEAR SPHINX, AL-  ³

³CAIRO (JUNE 7) - Egyptian archaeologists have discovered the³
³seat of government from the period of the construction of   ³
³the Giza pyramids, Al-Ahram newspaper reported Friday.      ³
³                                                            ³
³The head of antiquities at Giza, Zahi Hawass, told Al-Ahram ³
³the find was made at Nezlet al-Samman near the Sphinx, at a ³
³village site dating back to around 2,500 B.C.               ³

³Archaeologists also unearthed the bones of animals, mostly  ³
³cows and pigs, that had been cut up with the knacker's saw. ³
³The remains of plants were expected to provide an insight   ³
³into the period's agriculture and climate.                  ³

³Earthen pots that were also discovered could give clues on  ³
³everyday life in the era when the pyramids were built, Al-  ³
³Ahram said.                                                 ³
