By: Ed Mills Re: strange world From Shooting Times and Cycle World magazine: A man was motorcycling through the Hungarian countryside when he came to a railroad just as the crossing gates were coming down. As he waited, a farmer walked up beside him and tethered a goat to the crossing-gate arm. A few moments later, a horse-drawn cart stopped, and then a sports car pulled up. When the train roared through, the startled horse bit the cyclist on the arm. The cyclist, angry, punched the horse. The cart driver jumped down from the cart and scuffled with the cyclist. The horse, being unaccustomed to this kind of excitement, backed away briskly, pushing the cart on top of the sports car. At that point, the sports car driver leaped into the fray. As the farmer tried to pacify the combatants, the crossing gate went up and the goat was strangled as it was lifted into the air. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Another Hungarian decided to end his wife's incessant nagging by giving her a good scare. He built an elaborate harness to make it look as if he had hanged himself. When his wife came home and saw him, she fainted. Hearing the disturbance, a neighbor came over and, seeing what she thought were two corpses, seized the opportunity to loot the place. As the neighbor was leaving with her booty, the outraged (and suspended) man kicked her in the derriere. She was so surprised that she suffered a massive heart attack and died. The man was subsequently acquitted of manslaughter; he and his wife were reconciled. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- A Texas man, filming a documentary on the dangers of low-clearance overpasses was killed when the truck he was standing on (in the course of filming) passed under a low-clearance overpass. -----------------------------------------------------------------------
