Q's Blues- A Short Story by Ann Savage
"Stupid Human!" muttered Q, full of himself, still itching to put Picard
in his place.
He strode the halls heading where he knew he would find the captain, and
looked for some iteresting mischief along the way.
"The corridors are empty, probably Picard's orders," he hissed. "At least
he has the sense to fear me! Ah, Picard!" Secured sickbay doors were no
barrier to Q. "I've been looking for you! But I didn't think I'd find you
keeping company with such an enchanting redhead! Where have you been all my
life, baby!" he drawled.
Jean-Luc bristled at Q's proprietary leer but deemed it wise to say
nothing. Likewise, Beverly kept her squirming to a minimum and stayed silent.
They'd seen how dangerous this character could be.
Picard's face spoke of more than official concern for a crewmate, and
of course Q had the advantage of knowing his thoughts. And Beverly's.
"Well, this is no fun! You know that he, and you know that she...
Oh Ho, you DON'T know! I'll fix that for you, Picard." He waived his hand.
"Don't say I never did you a favor!"
Jean-Luc and Beverly found themselves at his mercy. Unable to stop, they
closed their eyes in shyness at the gentle boldness of their touching lips.
Q watched in disgust as they quickly grew to enjoy his little trick.
"All right, that's enough Picard!" He flipped his hand again and walked
away rasping, "Confounded sub-species! You make me sick!"
While the two uniformed Officiers never heard a word.
