[Scene:  USS Enterprise NCC-1701D bridge.  Medium shot of command couch.
         Ryker is sitting in left seat of couch.  Troi is standing right
         of right seat, emoting.]

RYKER:  What it it, Deanna?

TROI:  Pain . . . great pain. . . .  [Falls out of camera point of view]
[Sound FX:  *THUD*]

[Zoom in on Ryker as he looks towards the floor where Troi was
 standing.  He seems mildly surprised.  He points to someone offscreen
 right, then to the floor; then turns his attention to a communicator in
 the arm of his chair.  Sound FX of call being established.]

DR. CRUSHER [Voice Over]:  C.M.O.

RYKER:  Doctor, what are you doing tonight?

CRUSHER [VOICE OVER]:  I was planning to meditate by the freezer,
 communing with my husband's corpse.

RYKER:  [Has remained cool throughout scene, but reacts slightly to
this comment.]  Oh.  Ryker out.  [Presses chair arm; Sound FX.]

OFFSCREEN FEMALE VOICE:  Sir?

[Zoom back partially.  Voice was the "Eager Ensign" of the pilot
 episode.  She is placing a hangman's noose around a knee-high leather
 boot with a two-inch heel, all we can see of Troi.]

RYKER:  Yes?

EAGER ENSIGN:  Does that mean you're available?

RYKER [Looks at floor, then at chair arm, then at ensign, tilting his
       head, giving her the once-over twice and smiling slightly]:
     I suppose so. . . .

[FADE OUT]
