S H I P S O F S T A R T R E K compiled by Kasey K.S. Chang Part F of THE ULTIMATE STAR TREK REFERENCE now includes information from _Star Trek Chronology_! Updated: 4/13/93 WHY SUCH A LIST? Originally this started out as a sort of "encyclopedia" project, a compiled list of the ships that appeared in Star Trek. However, the original entries are for series only, while I wished to present every scrap of information possible. At the end, I settled for listing the ships that appeared onscreen (except TAS, I guess), plus additional information about them from other sources. I have chosen not to include information about ships which have not appeared onscreen. Such ships includes the ASCENSION-class dreadnaughts (TOS?), STAR EMPIRE-class dreadnaughts (TOS), OLYMPUS- class dreadnaughts (TNG), and various other classes that have appeared in some reference manuals but never in the show. This list should be accurate up to and including the fifth season, and some of the sixth season. For a more up-to-date yet less detailed list, see D. Joseph Creighton's "Star Trek Ships" list. Of course, he and I don't totally agree on classification of all ships. DISCLAIMER All entries are based on the best evidence available. As new information becomes available the article will be updated. I have no involvement with Paramount Studios or the TNG office, nor do I have special access to information not available to the public. All sources are documented as shown. I do not claim to have included every ship mentioned in the screened Star Trek universe. If you believe I missed some "major" ships, please write me at address/means below. If I made a mistake, let me know. No one is perfect, and I do make mistakes. Thanks for Wmwn92a@aol.com for pointing out a mistake. Somehow I mixed up Klaa's (ST5) and Chang's (ST6) Birds of Prey! Also thanks to Kevin Casto (pk115053@wvnvms.wvnet.edu) for providing the information from the 5th Season Writer's Guide for IDing some "lost" ship with no corresponding ship class. I cannot presume that the entire article is correct, but they are to the best of my ability. Chang ********************************************************************* UNITED FEDERATION OF PLANETS -- STARFLEET ********************************************************************* AMBASSADOR-class (TNG Tech Manual) The prototype ship USS AMBASSADOR, NX-10521, was the first ship to utilize a subspace-enhanced impulse drive. It massed approximately 3.7 million metric tons. (TNG Tech Journal) It is also the first ship to have independent flight-capable saucer and stardrive sections. The third incarnation of ENTERPRISE, NCC-1701-C is of this class. AMBASSADOR, USS (NX-10521) (later NCC?) (TNG Tech Manual) AMBASSADOR-class starship, class ship. Probably built at Earth McKinley Station. ENTERPRISE, USS (NCC-1701-C) (TNG Tech Manual) AMBASSADOR-class starship, built at Earth McKinley Station facility. (TNG:Yesterday's ENTERPRISE) Commanded by Captain Rachel Garrett, the ship was lost in 2345 near the Narendra system while attempting to defend a Klingon outpost on Narendra III from Romulan attackers. The heroic sacrifice by Captain Garrett's crew was a crucial step leading to the alliance between the Federation and the Klingon Empire. EXCALIBER, USS (???) (TNG:"Redemption, Part 2") AMBASSADOR-class starship. Commanded by William T. Riker during the Federation blockade at the Klingon border. (confirmed by STChron) GAGE, USS (???) (DS9:"Emmissary") Destroyed at Wolf 359. (see ENDNOTES) [NOTE: GAGE was not positively identified as an AMBASSADOR-class ship. However, see appendix A for explanations on how I got this result.] HORATIO, USS (???) (TNG:"Conspiracy") AMBASSADOR-class cruiser Commanded by Captain Walker Keel, long time Academy friend of Picard. Debris was found in Sector 63 by ENTERPRISE-D, cause of destruction unknown. Confirmed by TNGComp as AMBASSADOR-class. ZHUKOV, USS (NCC-62136) (TNG:"The Game", TNG:"Data's Day" , TNG:"Hollow Pursuits" ) Commanded by Captain Gleeson. This was Lt.Barclay's former ship. --------------------------------------------------------------------- ANTARES-class HERMES, USS (TNG:"Redemption II") Blockade fleet? It features an unique quadruple nacelle design, no secondary hull, and "thick" primary hull. (Speculation) CONSTELLATION-class were designed to be explorers. The redundant nacelles allow the ship to achieve high warp factors. When one or more nacelles fail, emergency control programs could conceivably allow the ship to proceed at low warp to a repair facility with less than four nacelles working. CONSTELLATION, USS (NCC-???) Class ship, never shown. Page - 4 Ships of Star Trek Kasey K.S. Chang HATHAWAY, USS (NCC-2593) (TNG:"Peak Performance") CONSTELLATION-class cruiser. Built at Copernicus Ship Yards, Luna by Yoyodyne Propulsion Systems. Abandoned at unknown time, but later retrieved for tactical combat simulation. Motto: "No matter where you go, there you are." STARGAZER, USS (NCC-2893) (TNGN:Reunion) CONSTELLATION-class cruiser. (Misc Background) Commanded by Captain Jean-Luc Picard, the ship went on to a legendary 22-year mission unmatched by any other starship. One of Picard's best friends, Jack Crusher, husband to Beverly Crusher and father to Wesley Crusher, was lost during Picard's command. Picard had returned Jack's body (or what's left of it) to the grieving Beverly Crusher and Wesley Crusher. (TNG:The Battle) Lost in the Maxia Zeta system after engaging an unknown ship which fired first. STARGAZER was heavily damaged and had to be abandoned, but most crew escaped in shuttles. The unknown ship was later found to be a Ferengi Marauder, its first sighting ever. The manuever Captain Picard used to defeat the hostile became known as the "Picard Manuever". (TNGN:Reunion) Crew includes Idun Asmund (Helm), Gerda Asmund (Navigation), Peter "Pug" Joseph (Security), Carter Greyhorse (Chief Medical Officer), Phigus Simenon (Chief Engineer), Gilaad Ben Zoma (First Officer), Tricia Cadwallader (Communications), Vigo (Weapons), Ensign Morgen, and Jack Crusher (Science?). VICTORY, USS (NCC-9754) (TNG:"Elementary, Dear Data", TNG:"Identity Crisis") CONSTELLATION- class cruiser, commanded by Captain Zimbata. LaForge had previously served on this vessel and visited Tarchannen while onboard. Last recorded mission "Stellar Nuclei Population Survey". --------------------------------------------------------------------- CONSTITUTION-class (TOSN: Final Frontier) CONSTITUTION-class starships are the result of the "Starship" project, featuring the first (Federation) dilithium-augmented warp drive on a starship (sometimes known as "fourth generation" warp drive), and crew of 220, later increased to 450. First built in 2245, USS CONSTITUTION received the hull number of NCC-1700, but before its completion, major modifications prompted renaming it to USS ENTERPRISE, and the registry number became NCC- 1701. It is classified as a heavy cruiser. (Conjecture) It is possible that the project came from a refit of an older class of vessels. USS CONSTELLATION appeared to be of the CONSTITUTION-class yet have a registry number of NCC-1017, much earlier. USS REPUBLIC, also of this class, have registry number of NCC-1371, both below that of the NCC-1700/1701. REPUBLIC contains "atomic pile", indicated that it contains much older components. (Making of Star Trek) The ship is designed to have an 18-year range, carries crew of appox. 450. (ST:TMP) In year 2269, StarFleet decided to rebuild the then mothballed ENTERPRISE, which had returned from its historic fourth Five-Year-Mission, a feat no other starship has accomplished. The Page - 5 Ships of Star Trek Kasey K.S. Chang original plans to scrap the ship after its return was scrubbed. Chief Engineer Scott supervised the refit, with overseeing by Admiral Kirk, now Chief of StarFleet Operations. The result is a brand-new ship with different design than the previous model. Official designation remains CONSTITUTION-class. The ship entered service in 2271. The "refit" (more like rebuild) was applied to other older CONSTITUTION-class vessels. USS ENDEAVOR was next in line. (TNGN:Reunion) CONSTITUTION-class starships are still in service during the 24th century (TNG). One of them is USS LEXINGTON. (TNGN:Captain's Honor) Another would be USS CENTURION. CENTURION, USS (?) CONSTITUTION-class starship (TNGN:Captain's Honor) The ship is fully crewed by Magna Romans. The ship turned renegade when its captain violated the prime directive and was discovered by NCC-1701-D. They have not reappeared since. CONSTELLATION, USS (NCC-1017) CONSTITUTION-class starship (refitted?) (TOS:"The Doomsday Machine") Commanded by Commodore Matthew Decker, entire crew except Decker perished when the planet they evacuated to was destroyed by the Doomsday Machine. Decker (supposedly) piloted the crippled CONSTELLATION into the Doomsday Machine and activated self-destruct, destroying it and himself. DEFIANT, USS (NCC-???) CONSTITUTION-class starship. (TOS:"The Tholian Web") Ship lost in interdimentional rift, crew all dead from exposure to the "interphase" near Tholian border. ENTERPRISE, USS (NCC-1701) CONSTITUTION-class heavy cruiser, commissioned in 2245 at StarFleet San Francisco Naval Yards, Earth. "Estimated" history: 2244 Shakedown cruises of NCC-1701 by Captain Robert April 2245 NCC-1701 minor fix ups, and ship commissioned 2245 (UFP/StarFleet) USS Enterprise, Constitution-Class heavy cruiser. (ST3:TSFS) ENTERPRISE, USS (NCC-1701-A) (TNG Tech Manual) Second generation CONSTITUTION-class starship, renamed from USS YORKTOWN, commissioned in 2286. (ST4:TVH) Ship was given to the original ENTERPRISE crew after they saved Earth from the effects of a giant alien probe which demanded contact with humpback whales, long extinct on Earth. (ST5:TFF) Ship was hijacked by Vulcan renegade Sybok, Spock's half- brother, in his search of God and Paradise. They travelled to the Galactic Center, and ended up being chased by Klingons, battled a god, and accomplished narrow escapes. (c2286/87) (ST6:TUC) Ship was ordered to escort the Klingon Chancellor Gorkon and his party to a negotiation with Federation representatives. During the voyage, ENTERPRISE supposedly fired a torpedo at the Chancellor's ship, forcing Kirk to surrender to his worst enemies. However, the Khitomer Conference turned out to be a success after the saboteur was discovered. The conference had a profound impact on the political climate of this part of the galaxy for the years to come. The ship was heavily damaged while engaging Chang's Bird of Prey OKRONA, and was ordered to be decommissioned by StarFleet.(c2293) The ship was decommissioned in 2294, soon after the Khitomer Conference. Montgomery Scott retired in disgust. EXCALIBUR, USS (NCC-1705) CONSTITUTION-class starship. (TOS:"The Ultimate Computer") Commanded by Captain Harris. Crew killed when engaging M-5 controlled ENTERPRISE NCC-1701 in a war game. EXETER, USS (NCC-1706) CONSTITUTION-class starship. (TOS:"Omega Glory") Commanded by Captain Ronald Tracey, who sabotaged the ship so he could maroon the crew at Omega IV. Page - 7 Ships of Star Trek Kasey K.S. Chang FARRAGUT, USS (NCC-1702) CONSTITUTION-class starship. (TOS:"The Ultimate Computer") Participated in the war game against M-5 controlled ENTERPRISE NCC-1701. Kirk have served on this ship previously as a lieutenant, under Captain Garrovick. HOOD, USS (NCC-1707) CONSTITUTION-class starship. (TOS:"The Ultimate Computer") Participated in the war game against M-5 controlled ENTERPRISE NCC-1701. INTREPID, USS (NCC-1708) CONSTITUTION-class starship (TOS:"Immunity Syndrome") Ship destroyed by giant space amoeba. It was the only all-Vulcan ship in StarFleet. Rebuilt, according to TOSN:My Enemy, My Ally. LEXINGTON, USS (NCC-1703) CONSTITUTION-class starship (TOS:"The Ultimate Computer") Commanded by Commodore Robert Wesley. Participated in the war game against M-5 controlled NCC-1701. (TNGN:Reunion) A ship of the same class and name is still serving in StarFleet by 2368, though not sure if it is the same ship. POTEMKIN, USS (NCC-1711) CONSTITUTION-class starship (TOS:"The Ultimate Computer") Participated in the war game against M-5 controlled ENTERPRISE NCC-1701. REPUBLIC, USS CONSTITUTION-class starship, NCC-1371 (TOS:"Court-Martial") James Kirk and Ben Finney both served onboard this vessel in the past. It had "atomic pile". It was probably refitted to CONSTITUTION-class. YORKTOWN, USS (NCC-1704) CONSTITUTION-class starship (TOS:"Obsession") (TNG Tech Manual) A later version of this ship was renamed to ENTERPRISE, and registry changed to NCC-1701-A. --------------------------------------------------------------------- DAEDALUS-class This class of ships were all decommissioned by 2196. ARCHON, USS (TOS:"Return of the Archons") Destroyed by Landru, crew survived and mixed in with local population. IDed by STChron as DAEDALUS-class. ESSEX, USS (TNG:"Power Play") NCC-173 Captain Brythe Shumar, XO Stephen Mullin, Sec.Chief Morgan Kelly. Crew of 229. Lost over 200 years before 2368 at Mabu IV's moon. Page - 8 Ships of Star Trek Kasey K.S. Chang HORIZON, USS (TOS:"A Piece of the Action") Contacted Iotia, and accidentally contaminated Iotian culture with the book about Chicagoan gangsters of 1920's. Later lost, cause unknown. Identified by STChron as DAEDALUS-class. --------------------------------------------------------------------- EXCELSIOR-class (TNG Tech Manual) The EXCELSIOR-class were originally designed as an experiment to test the concept of Transwarp, which proved to be an abysmal failure during early 2280's. Despite the failure of transwarp, the design was proven worthy, and was manufactured in large numbers, after the transwarp system was replaced with normal warp drive. The ship was originally classified as a battleship. The class served distinguished careers in several incarnations. USS EXCELSIOR, commanded by Captain Sulu, went on to establish a brilliant record. The third reincarnation of USS ENTERPRISE, NCC-1701-B also took the form of an EXCELSIOR-class vessel. EXCELSIOR-class vessels are still in wide use during the time of NCC-1701-D (a.k.a. The Next Generation). AKAGI, USS (TNG:"Redemption II"), EXCELSIOR-class, member of the blockade fleet. BERLIN, USS (NCC-14232) (TNG:"Angel One", TNG:"The Neutral Zone") EXCELSIOR-class vessel. CAIRO, USS (??) (TNG:"Chain of Command, Part 1") EXCELSIOR-class vessel, formerly commanded by Edward Jericho. CHARLESTON, USS (NCC-42285) (TNG:"The Neutral Zone") EXCELSIOR-class vessel ENTERPRISE, USS (NCC-1701-B) (TNG Tech Manual) EXCELSIOR-class starship, built at StarFleet Antares Yards. Putting the namesake on a class of ship which failed was not a popular decision, but it went through nonetheless, and she went on to establish a brilliant record for itself. This ship was a key figure in the exploration of space beyond the Gourami Sector. The ship and crew were responsible for mapping over 142 star systems, including first contact with seventeen civilizations. EXCELSIOR, USS (NX-2000/NCC-2000) (ST3:TSFS) EXCELSIOR-class experimental vessel, class vessel. Kirk called it "The Great Experiment". Commanded by Captain Styles, it attempted to overtake the "hijacked" ENTERPRISE during the Second Genesis Incident. The chase failed due to some modifications done to the Transwarp computer by its Chief Engineer Montgomery Scott. Page - 9 --PART 1 OF 4-- PART 1 OF 4 -CUT-HERE-CUT-HERE Ships of Star Trek Kasey K.S. APPENDIX: SOME PUZZLES AND POSSIBLE EXPLANATIONS There so far are two naming mistakes in TNG/DS9. In TNG:"BoBW1" MELBOURNE was identified as a NEBULA-class starship when it was offered to Riker to command. However, in DS9:"Emmissary" Novelization, the EXCELSIOR-class that died without firing a single shot was identified as MELBOURNE. There is NO indication in the televised version which ship is which. Only four names were mentioned, and four ships shown. I chose to ignore the novelization and used available evidence to match up the names to the ships. Of the ships on screen, SARATOGA is MIRANDA-class. Of which remained, one is EXCELSIOR-class, one AMBASSADOR-class, and one NEBULA-class. The names mentioned are MELBOURNE, GAGE, and KYUSHU. The NEBULA-class ship therefore must be the MELBOURNE. I've heard that KYUSHU, which was IDed as NEW ORLEANS-class, actually looks like a MIRANDA-class (minor differences), which leaves the GAGE to be an EXCELSIOR-class or the AMBASSADOR-class. I picked the latter. [A quick search through the dictionary showed Thomas Gage to be a famous British general in the American Revolutionary War, which still doesn't help, as Starfleet don't name ships according to class at all...] The second naming mistake was probably a result of bad detail research. A first season Okudagram (TNG:"The Neutral Zone"), which listed the ships near the Neutral Zone, listed USS TRIESTE as a YOSEMITE-class. However, in TNG:Realm of Fear, we actually saw USS YOSEMITE, and it appears to be an OBERTH-class... Page - 32 -END-Part 4/4-END - part 4/4 -CUT-HERE-CUT-HERE Ships of Star Trek Kasey K.S. Chang (TNG Officer's Manual/TNG First Year Sourcebook) EXCELSIOR is the first ship equipped with Transwarp, and is classified as a transwarp battleship. (TNG Technical Manual) Operational Failure of Transwarp in the early 2280's later led to a refit of the ship, replacing transwarp nacelles with regular warp engines. (ST6:TUC) Captain Sulu was its captain several years later, as its registry number was changed to NCC-2000. (c2289) It went on to a 3 year charting mission of the Redoban sector. (TNG:"The Best of Both Worlds, Part 2") Destroyed at Wolf 359 (See TNGComp, Page 139) --------------------------------------------------------------------- Page - 10 Ships of Star Trek Kasey K.S. Chang GALAXY-class (TNG Tech Manual) Galaxy-class began its life on paper in July of 2343, when the official start for the project is approved by StarFleet. Six Galaxy-class starships are planned, with six more as an option. So far only four ships have been completed: GALAXY, YAMATO, and ENTERPRISE, and one unknown. (Estimation) There should be a fourth ship appearing in 2366/67, but it was never seen. Rumors had that it was destroyed at the Wolf 359 Massacre. Since YAMATO was destroyed in 2366, that leaves only two active GALAXY-class vessels in service as of year 2368. A new Galaxy- class starship should appear in 2369. ENTERPRISE, USS (NCC-1701-D) (TNG Tech Manual) GALAXY-class starship, built at Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards above Mars. Commissioned on October 3rd, 2363, currently under command of Captain Jean-Luc Picard. GALAXY, USS (NX-76037) (NCC-76037?) (TNG Tech Manual) The class-ship of the GALAXY-class, there are little information avialable on it, except it was launched in 2357. YAMATO, USS (NCC-71807) (NCC-1305-E) (TNG Tech Manual) The second of the GALAXY-class. (TNG:"Contagion") Commanded by Captain Donald Verley. Ship was destroyed in a matter/antimatter explosion caused by an alien computer virus. The emergency shutdown was aborted by the virus, destroying the ship. (TNG:"Where Silence Has Lease") Made a ghost appearance as Worf and Riker transported over to the fake bridge. (Estimate) It was probably launched in 2360. Now why does this thing have two registry numbers? ???, USS (NCC-?????) There should be a Galaxy-class starship destroyed at the Wolf 359 Massacre, though its name was never revealed. --------------------------------------------------------------------- ISTANBUL-class CONSTANTINOPLE, USS (?) (TNG:"The Schizoid Man") Transport --------------------------------------------------------------------- KOROLEV-class GODDARD, USS (NCC-59621) (TNG:"The Vengeance Factor") KOROLEV-class. Purpose and classfication unknown, possibly a ressupply vessel. Last recorded mission "Starbase 414 resupply". --------------------------------------------------------------------- Page - 11 Ships of Star Trek Kasey K.S. Chang MEDITERRANEAN-class LALO, USS (TNG:"We'll Always Have Paris) (TNG:"Best of Both Worlds II") MEDITERRANEAN-class freighter, presumed destroyed by the Borg after contact with it was lost. --------------------------------------------------------------------- MIRANDA-Class There are actually two generations of MIRANDA-class. The original MIRANDA-class is a light cruiser. Two of them were seen, USS RELIANT (ST2:TWOK) and USS SARATOGA (ST4:TVH). This model featured photon torpedo launcher on an arch (anti-roll bar?) above the primary hull. Overall, it resembled the venerable tug, with engines beneath the saucer and no secondary hull. There were speculations that the arch was a later refit. No comment was available from StarFleet Ship Design Bureau. Some sources indicate that the class was once known as AVENGER-class, but that was found to be incorrect. Modified MIRANDA-class were seen in TNG. They are USS BRATTAIN (TNG:Night Terrors) and USS LANTREE (TNG:Unnatural Selection). They are virtually identical to the original MIRANDA-class vessels except they lack the arched photon torpedo launcher over the primary hull. The crew is also much smaller. (Speculation) after introduction of the sentient main computer such as the model installed on the ENTERPRISE-D, the crew was greatly reduced since the ship can almost take care of herself. Since the NEBULA-class replaced the MIRANDA-class as the light cruiser of the fleet, the remaining MIRANDA-class vessels were converted into scientific research vessels for quiet area patrols, explorations, and surveys of frontier areas. (NOTE: overall MIRANDA-class definition came from TNG Technical Manual. Sources from FASA claims RELIANT-Class "light cruiser" for USS RELIANT. TNG Ship dedication plaques list MIRANDA-Class for USS BRATTAIN only. Other sources lists RELIANT as AVENGER-class "frigate".) BRATTAIN, USS (NCC-21166) (Ship plaque) MIRANDA-class, built at 40 Eridani-A StarFleet Construction Yards by Yoyodyne Division. Commissioned SD 22519.5. (TNG:"Night Terrors") Crew perished on SD 44631.2 after caught in a Tyken's Rift, where the lack of REM sleep (caused by a trapped alien ship) caused widespread hallucination. The crew committed suicide or murdered each other. The only survivor was a Betazoid male. LANTREE, USS (TNG Tech Manual) MIRANDA-Class vessel, class 6 resupplier. (TNG:"Unnatural Selection") Commanded by Captain Iso Telaka, crew of 26 perished after visiting the Darwin genetic research colony on Gagarin IV, attacked by the new "active" immune system. The untested immune system changed genes of the cells in contacted, causing rapid aging and death due to old age. The ship was cordoned off and later destroyed to prevent others from falling to the same fate. Page - 12 Ships of Star Trek Kasey K.S. Chang RELIANT, USS (NCC-2684) MIRANDA-class light cruiser. (ST2:TWOK) Commanded by Captain Clark Terrell, the ship was temporarily assigned to the Genesis Project team in an effort to locate a suitable system to began phase III of the Genesis experiment. During the search, it came upon Ceti Alpha V, where the ship was taken over by Khan Noonian Singh. Khan vowed revenge on Kirk (see TOS:"Space Seed") and attempted to destroy Kirk and the ENTERPRISE, but failed, destroying the ship in the process in the final detonation of the Genesis device in the Mutara Nebula, which became the Genesis Planet. SARATOGA, USS MIRANDA-class cruiser, registry unknown. (ST4:TVH) While on patrol, the ship was disabled by a giant alien probe which drained all its power. Its hailing messages went unanswered. Captain ??? ordered crew into stasis and was later recovered without incident. SARATOGA, USS MIRANDA-class cruiser, registry unknown (DS9:"The Emissary") This ship, on which Ben Sisko served as first officer, was destroyed while engaging the Borg at Wolf 359. (Analysis) Some speculated that this may be the same ship as the one in ST4:TVH, it is doubtful that the ship's framework will survive for 80 years to be refitted and still serving on the front lines. --------------------------------------------------------------------- NEBULA-class (Misc Info) First seen in TNG:"The Wounded", this appears to be an analogue to the GALAXY-Class like the MIRANDA-class RELIANT to the CONSTITUTION-class ENTERPRISE. The warp nacelles are just beneath the saucer, small secondary hull, and a large photon torpedo launcher is mounted over the saucer. At least one NEBULA-class ship is also seen in REDEMPTION II, commanded by Lt.Cmdr Data: USS SUTHERLAND. MELBOURNE, USS NEBULA-class, registry unknown. (TNG:"Best of Both Worlds") Riker turned down its command, and the ship was destroyed at Wolf 359 by the Borg. (DS9:"The Emissary") Actual destruction shown. MERRIMACK, USS (NCC-61827) NEBULA-class. (TNG:"Sarek") This vessel returned Sarek to Vulcan. Last recorded mission "Special assignment, Vulcan Science Academy". MONITOR, USS (NCC-61828) NEBULA-class. (TNG:"The Defector") A ship sent by StarFleet to backup ENTERPRISE-D at Nelvana III. Last recorded mission "Romulan Neutral Zone Patrol". Page - 13 Ships of Star Trek Kasey K.S. Chang NEBULA, USS (???) Class ship, never shown. PHOENIX, USS (NCC-65420) NEBULA-class. Seen once in "Future Imperfect". (TNG: The Wounded) Captain Benjamin Maxwell of the USS PHOENIX, formerly of the RUTLEDGE, declared personal war on the Cardassians, destroying several Cardassian vessels before ENTERPRISE caught up with him and convinced him to surrender. Evidence of Cardassians rearming for conflict was found, but peace was kept. SUTHERLAND, USS NEBULA-class, registry NCC-72015. (TNG: Redemption II) Commander Data took command of USS SUTHERLAND, a new and untested ship, as a part of the Klingon border blockade fleet under command of Captain Picard. His exceptional leadership and innovative tactics exposed the Romulan supply convoy, causing the convoy to turn back, leaving the Duras-faction without supplies, and turning the Klingon civil war to Gowron's favor. --------------------------------------------------------------------- NEW ORLEANS-class A frigate, no other details available. They also do scientific surveys of phenomenons that does not require a major ship. While no specific number of the crew was given, it is estimated to be around 50-150. It has minimal armament and defense. It is outfitted with inboard warp engines, no exterior nacelles. It also has an unique two-tier design. Page - 14 Ships of Star Trek Kasey K.S.
