Kevin> Na, MS-DOS has no idea of "group consciousness". MS-DOS is what

Yeah, yeah, kinda like
[aboard enterprise@federation.goodguys.com]
Data: The interface will have three phases. Doctor, you monitor
the Captain's TTY activity, and Mr. O'Brien, you watch my load
factor.
I am trying connect to machine....No signifigant access.
I am attempting the rlogin command..Still no significant progress.
Now for phase three- Telnet--O wow....processing....
Crusher: Sir, the Borg have stopped hacking at the
bank of Boston computers...
Riker: Well, we seem to have some of thier attention.
Riker: Mr. Data report.
Data: Captain,I have succesfully tenlneted and am logged in as locutus@borg.com
It seems they all are logged in at the same time.
Their group consciousness is based on the UNIX operating system
of the late 20th century. Commands are issued by the super user
from the root and go downward iteritavely to all branches...
probably using the -r flag sir.
Riker: Very good. Type rm -rf /*
Data: I do not have super user access privelages to the root directory sir
Riker: Well, try /usr/bin/weapons/weapons.off
Data: That directory is protected, as well as are
/usr/bin/communications /usr/bin/operations
In fact, the ~locutus directory is in a relatively unimportant
disk partition.
Riker: Very well. Dr. Crusher has informed me that out /usr/bin/virus
will not be affective, and we cannot use /usr/weapons/phasers
because their mesg is set to `n'.
Mr. Crusher, shut the air conditioning off so that our machine
burns itself out. Maybe we'll take them with us.
wesley: But sir...
Riker: Shut up you simple user ! I have the super user password now.
You'll do as I say.
Worf: Sir, the Borg have all the passwords for the users in /usr20, /usr19
/usr18. They are erasing these partitions and are moving up towards
the root !!
Riker: Data, your final report ?? Mr. Crusher, eng-
Data: Sir, please put self destruct job suspended background, stand by
Picard: Restore...restore..
Bev: He wants to restore his lost files..
Data: I do not beleive so. I have an idea.
[Suddenly, the Borg stop]
Data: Sir, the Borg's /usr/etc/restore/file_lost was a low priority file and
public read, write and executable access. I ran it and redirected it
to all of their tty devices. Their jobs are all suspended.
Riker: Commander Shelby, I want you to rlogin over there and see if the
Borg really have been control-z'd (Heh- ZZZ'd, get it ?? ;-)
shelby: Sir, it's true, they thought that they lost their files and they
are all standing in line at the backup tape drive to restore their
accounts.
Riker: How long till they figure out to type 'fg' ??
Shelby: Sir, I am not sure, but there has been a dramatic jump in the
uptime of the the borg computer. I think all of them trying to
restore from tape at once is pushing the load up to 30+...it's bad;
an ls command is taking 30 seconds to run,- do you want me to
try to kill the processes ??
Data: We should consider the value of thouroughly FTPing everything we
can from their machine...
Riker: Ahhhhmm...Screw it- logout. Mr Crusher, as soon as they have logged
out, unhook connections from FEDNET and set all mesg to `n'
Crusher: Aye aye sir.
Now the borg computer is show melting down very dramatically...
Chips meltings, circuit boards burning, hard disk crashing out of
vacuum...etc
Riker: We won...Higher disk quotas for everyone :-)
