"Who Benefited from the Assassination?"
Part of the problem with an analysis of the Kennedy Assassination
is the microscopic scrutiny focused by the various private
investigations. Every conceivable element of the assassination
has been analyzed and compared, filed and correlated. Then,
motives are extrapolated as connections are sought. If this was
an assassination, then disinformation was probably used in
abundance.
Lee Harvey Oswald obviously had some motive to kill the
president, yet the one popularly bandied and most often quoted is
that he was "one of those nuts." Possibly, he was. Certainly, he
had a very unusual life with a number of anomalies. Still, if
Oswald was a lone gunman in the window of the Texas School Book
Depository, why didn't he fire at the target when he had the best
opportunity rather than when the limousine was either obstructed
by tree branches, and then when it had reached the long-shot
position of the Grassy Knoll? When the President's limousine was
turning onto Elm Street, he had a completely unobstructed view of
the limousine as it slowed to make the turn. It was about
one-third the distance from where the fatal shot eventually
struck the President, and for that matter, he could have easily
shot the driver, Mr. Greer, in an attempt to cripple the car.
Oswald could have easily shot up the car as it approached,
possibly stopped it, and then shot the occupants. In fact, the
position of the limousine when JFK was fatally shot was only
advantageous to an assassin positioned at the Grassy Knoll.
Unfortunately, this data is mesmerizingly intriguing, and myriad
private investigators get hung up in Dealy Plaza. If a
conspiracy did indeed exist, however, Dealy Plaza was probably a
very carefully orchestrated theatrical event tailored to maximize
false leads and keep investigators glued to the site of the
assassination. There is evidence that rumors of the
assassination circulated before the event. Joseph Adams Milteer
who was secretly taped in a Miami apartment describing the
assassination plan before it occured. It is possible that he was
set up by the conspirators as a false lead. There are others
like Milteer who were possibly lured to Dallas as decoys to be
photographed and implicated in the crime.
If there was a high-level conspiracy, the disinformation had to
be maximized, perhaps even to the level of the FBI whose only
response could be the investigation of every single suspicious
element of the crime. This would be frustrating and endlessly
fruitless. Consider how many individuals with criminal records
are accused of being present in or near Dealy Plaza that
afternoon. This confusion would stymie the professional
investigators and turn them into fierce defenders of their
investigation. The FBI had its reputation on the line like never
before, and if it could not find evidence of a conspiracy within
the thousands of false leads that may have been presented, it
would have to occupy a position that Lee Harvey Oswald was the
only good suspect in the Plaza that day. The FBI had nothing to
gain, and J. Edgar Hoover, whose own future at the Bureau, had
everything to lose.
If a conspiracy did exist to assassinate John F. Kennedy, then
there had to satisfy an enormously compelling motive because the
risk was so great. People with great power understand that it
more important to have control of an activity than to own it.
Then the real profits can be made through peripheral reactions in
the marketplace. People who sell illegal drugs, for instance,
want to control the people who legislate the rules of the
marketplace. A market where a scarcity illegal drugs exists
provides more profitable transactions. This may be the style of
the "mobs", but an assassination of a president would have soured
any participation they had by corrupt political figures in local
or national government. It would have been a very stupid tactic
on their part, and as a matter of tradition they have never
endorsed attacks on members of the police, government, or
political ranks. That's why the motive had to be much more
fundamental to a small, insignificant, highly elusive, and
probably unknown group of individuals whose benefits were
secondary or more removed from the actual event of assassination.
Besides, the assassination of JFK wouldn't bring back the casinos
of Cuba or change the domestic marketplace. It might have
temporarily lulled the anti-mob investigations at that time, but
they would have rebounded with a vengeance. The mobs, or Mafia,
is just another convenient patsy.
The CIA is next on the list. Still, it won't completely wash.
What could this government agency possibly gain through such a
reckless act? No one in the agency would have directly
benefited, and no one would have dared raise such a preposterous
plan as assassination without insurmountable risks. If the CIA
was involved at all, its involvement was probably limited to a
highly secret, small group with enough influence to circumvent
the authority of the Director. These people could have been
recommended, placed, or injected to these positions by others in
government with similar purposes. These would be a kind of
cabinet of advisors who, working in covert secret association,
distorted, misrepresented, and otherwise orchestrated the
information reaching the Director to influence his actions in a
way favorable to their designs. Let's call them, for lack of
another name, the "Club". In the event that some element of the
Club's existence was discovered, the Director himself was
immediately incriminated. Someone like Oliver North, a
super-patriot might have been included as an unsuspecting backup
to the Director in the event, like William Casey, he was needed.
In every situation, this "Club" was the first group privy to CIA
business. In every emergency, this "Club" had to be consulted.
They would have the opportunity and the resources to manipulate
and confuse, to distort information to further involve the
Director. They could implicate the integrity of the CIA as a
whole and throw its body into a defensive posture.
A similar situation would have to exist in the administration of
the Presidency. The "Club" would have to exists there also,
since the President largely nominates the Director of the CIA and
the FBI. How many times now have we seen a President thrust into
the position of confusion, professing confusion when confronted
by highly complex situations such as Watergate and Iran-Contra?
Again, a situation no unlike what existed in Dealy Plaza, so many
leads, so many anomalies, so many false leads, at last left to
the frustrations of investigators who flounder in a sea of
conflicting facts and inconclusive evidence.
The power structure, if it existed when Kennedy was assassinated,
implies something much more ominous. With the FBI, the CIA, and
the office of the president controlled by manipulation, the
source continues higher. We enter the world of James Bond with
megalomaniacs who live above conventional laws. The compare to
the domestic Mafia, except that they are far more powerful. They
involve themselves in conventional business as a cover, but they
profit most from drugs, weapons, etc. They are above the
Military-Industrial sector in any one country. With these
people, we enter a world of lawless billionaires whose more
legitimate members practice crimes of less risk. Their primary
muscle is the control of currency, its value, it's international
exchange rate, and their ability through one agency to control
whole economies. In the United States, many people believe that
agency may be the Federal Reserve. There is some reason to
believe that Kennedy had some designs to limit the powers of the
Federal Reserve, and of course in the subsequent Johnson
presidency, the Federal Reserve note became the currency of the
United States. It has no intrinsic value. It's value changes.
Therefore, it can be manipulated to a profit. These are also the
people in a position to manipulate public opinion through their
collective strong ownership in the media. The combination of
international outlaws with their combined interests in drug
sales, military equipment to United States adversaries, and
domestic influence in the United States economy through
manipulation of the monetary system seems the most plausible
suspect in the murder of Kennedy. These people are beyond the
range of the FBI, the CIA.
Now, these theories are admittedly filled with arguments or
rebuttal. My purpose here is to raise the sights a bit and to
soften the focus on Dealy Plaza. We have to realize the
confusion, both natural and injected (if there were conspirators)
that complicates the investigation. Consider, for instance, that
the Oliver Stone movie, "JFK", rest largely on the theories of
Jim Garrison. This is precisely the way disinformation is
distributed. I don't mean to classify this film in that
category, but one has to wonder why Jim Garrison, a man whose
investigations are so very subject to dispute is raised to the
position of "JFK Assassination Conspiracy Investigator
Archetype". If, after a huge promotion and profitable run, Jim
Garrison can be discredited by truly concerned, reputable members
of the media, the whole premise falls apart. A similar taint
blemishes others who pursue these investigations. Just a court
witnesses are discredited through cross-examination, Jim
Garrison, the Archetype, can be the denigration of this whole
movement to re-open the investigation into the assassination of
John F. Kennedy. All those who live in the legacy of the
"conspirators" need do is use their influence to back,
distribute, and promote this film. Again, this is not an
accusation of Mr. Stone's movie. It is just an illustration of a
classic disinformation technique.
