I received a response from General Motors in answer to my inquiry about the
alleged poor sales of the Chevrolet Nova in Spanish-speaking countries:

Dear Mr. Mikkelson
Thank you for writing Chevrolet. The Chevrolet Nova was actually an imported
vehicle from Toyota. Chevrolet did not market this vehicle in Mexico and
other South American countries as the Chevrolet Nova. Toyota may have sold
this vehicle in these countries under a different name.
