But Allen Roberts denied he had deceived his audience by taking credit for research carried out on the formation years before he had even visited the site in Turkey. During evidence in the Federal Court where he is accused of making the false claims, Dr Roberts said he had not been trying to pass himself off as a geologist and scientist, by using geological terms during his lectures. "You just can't help yourself when talking about your explorations in Turkey, you always say 'we' to get the credit for things other people have done," barrister Stephen Walmsley suggested. Dr Roberts, a former school teacher, first went to the site in 1990 after reading a book by American author David Fasold, one of two men suing him. During his Australia-wide tour in 1992, Dr Roberts told of various scientific studies "we" carried out on the formation using "sophisticated techniques". Mr Walmsley: "The fact is a number of the aspects of the scientific research you claim to have done by using the word 'we' you didn't do, that's right isn't it?" Dr Roberts: "I certainly wasn't claiming by using the word 'we' that I was involved in all those things." He said the term "we" referred loosely to the group of researchers who had conducted examinations of the site at various times, and included Mr Fasold, who studied the structure for about nine years. Dr Roberts denied he had conveyed a misleading message to his audiences. "My lectures made it clear that I'm a Johnny-come-lately when it comes to that site," he said. He disagreed with Mr Walmsley that he had tried to put himself forward as "somebody with geological qualifications". Mr Walmsley: "You wanted to give the audience the impression that you had better scientific and geological qualifications than you, in fact, had, didn't you?" Dr Roberts: "No." The court has heard Mr Fasold, the author of the book "The Ark of Noah", decided to take legal action against Dr Roberts after accusing him of reproducing a drawing from the book in a brochure sold on the doctor's lecture tour. The hearing continues. ------------------------ *-* Famous graffitti: Schroedinger may have been here * SLMR 2.1a * *** Sandra And her Mists Of Distortion *** --- Alexi/Mail 2.02b (#10000) * Origin: *-* John Brawley & Quantum Godkiller Site *-* (1:221/1503) SEEN-BY: 12/12 24/888 102/2 943 106/2000 109/7 112/101 114/262 271 124/1 SEEN-BY: 130/1 1008 133/2 143/1 147/34 2021 167/166 170/400 202/777 1207 SEEN-BY: 213/213 218/2 801 890 900 901 907 270/101 275/429 280/1 169 SEEN-BY: 282/1 62 283/120 284/29 300/603 310/666 322/739 323/107 324/278 SEEN-BY: 343/600 346/250 352/3 356/18 371/42 377/86 380/64 382/92 388/1 SEEN-BY: 396/1 2 45 690/660 730/2 732/10 2401/0 2442/0 3603/420 3606/10 SEEN-BY: 3612/41 3615/50 3619/25 3632/21 3651/9 3652/1 3667/1 @PATH: 221/1503 1500 100 3615/50 396/1 218/907 801
