Scientific Conferences Proposals Invited

The Science Directorate is now seeking conference proposals for its Scientific Conferences Program. The purpose of this program is to promote the exchange of important new contributions and approaches in scientific psychology.

The Conferences Program provides funds to support scientific meetings organized by psychologists. The maximum grant awarded is $20,000. The grant must be matched by the host institution either with funds or in the form of conference space, personnel, or other appropriate means. The level of institutional support for conferences is negotiable. Conference summaries or other appropriate documents will be submitted to APA for consideration for publication and dissemination under the authority of the Association. APA reserves the right of first refusal for all publications from APA-sponsored conferences. APA will hold the copyright on such documents. Volumes are limited to 250 printed pages. Conferences should take place within 12 months after the funding decision is made.

Upcoming deadlines for applications are June 1, 1997, and December 1, 1997. For more information, contact Maggie Nelson in the Science Directorate at (202) 336-6000 or via e-mail at
