The Committee has made significant progress on the remaining parts of the Standards, which now has 10 additional draft chapters, an introduction, and a glossary. The new chapters constitute two sections: one on fairness, which focuses on disabilities and individuals whose first language is not English; and one on specific applications of testing, such as psychological testing, educational testing, employment and credentialing, and program evaluation. Drafts of these chapters were reviewed and discussed by the Committee at its November meeting. The Joint Committee now plans to release the full draft (introduction, 15 chapters, and glossary) for review and comment following its February 1997 meeting. The tentative deadline for comments and suggestions will be August 1997.
The APA Council and each APA board and committee will review the draft. The Joint Committee hopes to send a completed manuscript, ready for approval, to its three sponsoring organizations (APA, the American Educational Research Association, and the National Council on Measurement in Education) by early 1998.
