Six Westinghouse Finalists Recognized for Behavioral Science Projects

In early March, 40 high school students traveled to Washington, DC, to be named Westinghouse Science Scholarship Finalists. Six of the finalists were selected for projects in the behavioral sciences. Competition for the science honor, which is the highest bestowed upon U.S. high school students, is rigorous, and this year, the 40 finalists were selected from among 1,869 entrants based on their exceptional research projects in one of the scientific disciplines.

In addition to presenting their projects to judges and the general public at the National Academy of Sciences, each finalist attended a week-long Science Talent Institute, March 6-11. They were then awarded scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $40,000 at a ceremony on March 11.

Among previous Westinghouse Finalists, five have gone on to win Nobel prizes.
