GODS CHURCH TECHTALK #7 HOW AND WHY UCP WORKS UCP [Universal Clearing Process] is so decptively simple that people often dismiss it out of hand because [being arduously, painfully, expensively and complexly trained for punishingly long periods of time] they [invertedly] think that something has to be complex to be powerful and effective. Absolutely NOT true! In fact, just the opposite is true. The more complex a process is, the more limited and narrow it becomes, the LESS utility it has, and the faster you have to throw it away and find another process that still has "bite," "TA" or effectiveness to it. AS-ISNESS IS *THE* BASIC CURATIVE PROCESS. Every discharge process is just a way of getting the client to as-is something. In this sense, there IS ONLY ONE theraputic process. The more the process you are using limits what the client can look at, the more limited your process, and the faster you have to find a new one. Hubbard did NOT invent or discover the Four Conditions of Existence, he's very late on the chain of intellectual piracy. They are clearly laid out in extreme and unmistakable detail in the traditional works of Dzog-Chen . . . which were a few thousand years old when the Buddha was born. See the books of Namchai Norbu if you're interested in where the *BASIC* FUNDAMENTAL TECH *REALLY* COMES FROM. Anyway, lets look at the UCP commands and what happens when you run them: 1] Tell me a place you have been. [Or: Where have you been?] This simply has the client select something that his attention is on. The command is not critically worded. You could probably run it as "Remember something." He simply selects SOMETHING for examination out of what has already happened, and is therefore PAST, and he is relatively the EFFECT of. Whatever he thinks of is fine. The "place" could be a state of mind, an emotion state, a mental attitude, a spot on the highway, a physical position, a computation, a social position, a role he plays, etc., etc., etc. You don't care. His attention is on it . . . so that's the "right" item. This is simple and easy to run because you are not trying to figure out what the client should put his attention on, and when he should take it off. You don't have to assess all kinds of stuff in the dusty far corners of his mind and pick a minutely reading item. You just gently coach him to look at whatever he wants to. Since that is ALL that is needed, ANYTHING MORE would be a SESSION ADDITIVE, and distract the client from the important work he has to do. The LESS the coach does, and the less attention the client has on him, the better the session works [that's the "old," useless, LO-TECH, discarded, irrelevant technology]. If the client is so absorbed in his universe he forgets the coach is there . . . WOW, you've got a great session going! 2] Compare that place to where you are now. [Itsa similarities & differences]. This has the client compare the selected SOMETHING with "present time." In order to COMPARE two things, the client essentially has to view both pictures, incidents, viewpoints [whatever] at the same time. This in itself is extraordinarly beneficial to the client. Most people's awareness is much like a television set displaying a station selected by a remote control . . . in someone else's hands. They are totally hypnotized by whatever picture, valence, identity, idea [etc] is currently displayed on the screen. They identify with the picture as "them." When the picture flips to a different channel, it's STILL "THEM" as far as they are concerned . . . and they have no awareness that it's actually a different channel and program. They can only duplicate or comprehend one viewpoint at a time, and it's totally beyond their awareness that they were spouting a totally different party line just a short while ago. The constant discipline of COMPARING builds the ability to view TWO viewpoints, pictures, etc., AT THE SAME TIME. This FORCES them OUT OF THE PICTURE THEY HAVE BEEN IN, and gets them to adopt the VIEWPOINT of the being who is LOOKING AT the PICTURES. This differentiates THEM from the PICTURES they have been dramatizing, and are now viewing. If their attention is on only one item, they can interiorize into it and BE it. When they look at TWO pictures at once, it is clear that they are neither one, but are the VIEWER of pictures. This is an enormously important spiritual capacity to develop. This simple ability is far beyond the realm of most "OT"s, who are thoroughly interiorized into a compulsive valence they are strenuously dramatizing. In addition, of course, the COMPARING of the PAST to the PRESENT SEPARATES THEM. It CREATES AWARENESS OF SIMILARITIES AND DIFFERENCES . . . the basic definition of sanity. It pulls the past OUT OF the present, and lets it go back to where it should be . . . back down the time track. It separates the client more and more from the past into a clearer and clearer and more sharply defined PRESENT TIME. Running UCP, you will see circuits, valences, locks, secondaries, engrams, implants, places, attitudes, compulsions, incidents, computations, etc., etc., etc., TURN ON with a vengeance . . . and TURN OFF again with NO FANCY PROCESS COMMANDS: NO four flows of earlier similar incidents, NO long tricky assessments, NO complex risky listing and nulling actions, and NO client attention on the coach and the process. It's smooth, easy, and incredibly effective. Just let them itsa similarities and differences as long as they have interest. It might be a few words. It might be many minutes of analysis and cognitions. You don't have to worry about "flattening" it or getting "all the charge off." If the client has has more charge on it, his attention will go back to it, and he can simply look at it again on the next go-round. You DON'T have to "control his attention" and tell him when to think about what, and when to stop. You just easily and naturally FOLLOW HIS LEAD. This first leg of the process is the RUNNING OUT, AS-ISNESS, or DISCHARGE side. It INCLUDES AS SUBSETS *ALL* of the narrowly defined discharge processes that any "well-trained" auditor knows hundreds of. It handles and heals what has HAPPENED TO the client AS EFFECT. It leads naturally in the rotation to the other side of the process. 3] Where might you be? Again, this is not a tightly worded or narrowly construed question. You could probably run it just fine as "What might happen?," "Imagine Something," or anything similar. The words are not critical as long as you have the general idea of what you are doing. Whatever the client thinks of is just fine and dandy. This is the POTENTIAL, FUTURE, IMAGINED, MOCK-UP, CREATIVE side of the process. This can be 10,000 years in the future, impossible by definition, in his wildest dreams, in another dimension, in a parallel or non-parallel universe . . . WHATEVER. It can be the same fantasy he's looked at 20 times already. You don't care. ANYTHING will do! 4] Compare that place to where you are now. [Itsa similarities & differences]. This is the exact same compare question as the first leg of the process, and operates similarly, but compares the present with the FUTURE, IMAGINE, CAUSE, CREATE aspect of the client's universe, rather than the past, fixed, effect aspect. It lets him discover his future [or lack thereof]. It lets him create future [and change his mind and revise]. It lets him separate goals, fantasies and possiblities from the actuality of the present, and see how his future [or lack thereof] IS CREATED BY HIM IN PRESENT TIME. As with the first leg, the COMPARING builds the ability to view TWO different viewpoints, pictures, etc., at the same time. It builds enormous self-awareness of the client as the CREATOR of his universe. This enhances his ability to KNOWINGLY CREATE HIMSELF AND HIS FUTURE. The constant motion back and forth between the legs of the process keeps him from getting stuck in the past and dramatizing himself as hallucinatory total victim, and from getting stuck in his fantasies of the future, and dramatizing himself as hallucinatory total victor. The constant comparing to "where he is now" keeps bringing him into present time. The entire process works as a HAVINGNESS PROCESS. It gives him AN *ENTIRE UNIVERSE* TO HAVE. THERE ISN'T ANY NEED TO RUN RUDIMENTS TO GET THE CLIENT INTO SESSION! THE PROCESS ITSELF *IS* THE RUDIMENTS PROCESS. It is a rudiments process that includes HIS ENTIRE UNIVERSE. Whatever "out rudiment" he has when he comes to session is simply what his attention is stuck on. Well . . . goody! He has a problem at work . . . "Compare that place to where you are now!" If something is bugging him, you just let him pick places connected with that. The future leg lets him explore possible resolutions of the out rudiment . . . and constantly relates them to present time. The out rudiment is NOT something you have to "get out of the way" in order to "Do the C/S." That's an absurd backwards bizarre outragous reactionary insane way-beleow-death hysterically negative cosmically stupid concept. The out rudiment IS *WHAT* IS "wrong" with his universe, that he's there to examine and repair. It's the tip of the iceberg you're there to melt down. It's your blowdown floating TA reading item with interest pre-checked that you KNOW will run. It's your detailed exact explicit guaranteed perfect case supervisor instruction from the BIG C/S up in the sky. To recap: UCP addresses ANY aspect of PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE. It addresses the AS-IS function of auditing, and the CREATIVE side of auditing. It addresses WHATEVER the client has stuck attention on, and handles it until the client has no attention on it. Well . . . I think that just about covers it. Forget about your figure-figure . . . and get to work! AUDIT!
